Buttons & Fancy Links
A button or fancy link highlights the most important link(s) for a section of content
These elements draw the user’s attention to trigger actions and links. Prioritize; try not to overuse these elements. Cards are also an option to link to other content.
Tips for buttons and fancy links
- Use 1-3 at a time. This will avoid overwhelming a user, and will help to narrow down choices.
- Keep label reasonable. Try to keep labels to 1-3 words. Overly long ones can look awkward. If the text is too long, try pairing the button or fancy link with a heading to break it up.
- Use meaningful language that tells users what to expect. Make sure the user knows where they will go when they click. Avoid generic language such as “More,” “Click Here,” or “Submit.”
Buttons
Use between 1-3 buttons at a time. More than 3 buttons will start to look too crowded for your reader.
Fancy Links
Fancy links are useful when you have several links you want to show in a list
